About UsEyebright, a magical store full to overflowing with beauty and inspiration, both inside and out.
Eyebright was started in 1986 on the Appleby Plains in sunny Nelson, New Zealand, by Adrienne and Peter Owen. What began as a tiny endeavour growing dried flowers on 1/8 of an acre in the midst of a burgeoning cafe, wine and arts region, gradually expanded as the demand for flowers grew and Eyebright supplied stores throughout NZ. What was begun as a small retail store in the old cheese factory at the corner of McShane Road and the Appleby Highway grew in size as more people visited and fell in love with the country atmosphere and range of products that Eyebright had to offer. In 2003 Eyebright moved to a purpose built barn on 11 acres at another location on McShane Road. This has provided an opportunity to expand this popular business and develop beautiful gardens. The shop itself is huge and the displays are vibrant and ever changing. In 2012, Peter Owen purchased Adrienne's share in the business and is now the sole owner of this iconic store. Adrienne has taken on a new business enterprise which she is extremely passionate about, and has also freed up time to pursue her creative and artistic interests. The friendly staff that you have come to know and love over the years are still here, spreading their love and energy throughout the store to make Eyebright the wonderful vibrant store that you have come to admire over the years. From early October until Christmas each year Eyebright is famous for its fantastic Christmas displays which take everyone's breath away. Throughout the years Eyebright has been featured in a number of magazines and on television programmes such as Maggie’s Garden Show. It is a Nelson tourist icon and very popular with both NZ and overseas visitors. Eyebright is a must to visit if you are in Nelson.
The opening hours for the retail store are 9.30am-5.00pm 7 days a week.
